Two sides of the same tablet: MediaPad T1 8.0 / Tablets

There is some regularity in that the letter “T” in the model number is usually awarded to devices of the average price range. First, a series of smartphones with this letter appeared in Sony, and now it has reached Huawei – and all products are again from the middle. The first was MediaPad T1 8.0 – pretty simple, without the bells and whistles. But he knew how to call, supported the transfer of data in 3G networks and cost around ten thousand rubles. For those who are not going to play 3D games – then that’s it.

Huawei recently expanded the MediaPad T1 line and released two more tablets – seven-inch and ten-inch. At us on testing the senior model which full name is Huawei MediaPad T1 10.0 LTE. Characteristics of the “tens” and “seven” are very similar – they differ, in fact, only the screens and some minor trifles.

# Appearance and ergonomics

Appearance of MediaPad T1 10.0 is not too remarkable. We can say that this is just a tablet, without any frills – there are no outstanding elements in the design of the device. There is nothing on the front panel except the screen, the camera and the proximity sensor. And the camera lens is not too well located – 10-inch tablets are more often used in landscape orientation, and in this case, the lens runs the risk of being at hand. It’s strange that the lens was not placed above the screen – there it would look more appropriate.

The gadget turned out to be quite compact. The thickness of the case at it is small – only 8.3 millimeters, due to what it can be put in additional, “narrow” pockets of bags and backpacks. And the frames around the screen are not too large. Weigh the device is also relatively small – 450 grams. For the 10-inch tablet, this is more than acceptable dimensions and weight: the vaunted iPad Air 2 weighs only a few grams less, although the thickness, of course, significantly differs – 6.1 mm.

If you close your eyes to the strange location of the front camera, we can say that with the ergonomics of the MediaPad T1 10.0 everything is in order. The keys for turning on and adjusting the volume are moved to the top (if you view the tablet in landscape orientation) the end, exactly under the index finger. The buttons have a short and “transparent” course. A universal 3.5 mm audio jack for wired headset connection is on the left end. Wire from the headphones does not interfere with the use of the device – its location is good. But the rear camera and its flash is too easy to close with your fingers.

Also on the top there are sockets for installing microSD and Micro-SIM cards. They hide under a common plastic plug.

Micro-USB 2.0 interface is moved to the right end. Next to it is a single microphone. Obviously, MediaPad T1 10.0 does not have active noise reduction. The lower end of the shell is empty.

Huawei MediaPad T1 10.0 LTE – right side

The case near the tablet is preferably made of metal. The main part of the rear panel is metal, on the sides of it there are insets of white plastic. On one of them there is a main lens, a five-megapixel camera with an LED flash, and a speaker grille.

The quality of the assembly of the tablet is satisfactory: we did not find any backlashes and suspicious squeaks of the case for a week of testing, however, when squeezed from the sides, it significantly bends. Probably, the design lacks stiffeners. Nevertheless, there are no color divorces on the matrix – and it is good.
